When it rains it pours, projects!
Ideas and projects seem to be flowing in at the moment, so I am hoping to catch a few before they flutter away.
The bit about the flatfile database
I got a reply from another friendly Geminaut on my flatfile database idea, so I wrote Rob back in an email. He was quite receptive on letting me work a bit on his OEIS project, to try and see if there is something there.
Robs experience with flatfile databases
We are mostly just talking tweaking an already running version of my idea, well his idea really, to see if we can eek some performance out of the search and maybe even run a few tests to see how it would perform vs a similar database tool. Very exciting!
The home front
I have a proverbial shitton of home project as well, projects I hate, mostly getting ready to move, fixing up this apartment before moving and then moving into a new place, all very unpleasant things.
The good news being that once it is over, I will finally be able to settle into a bit of a quiet place, for the next foreseeable future.
The exciting experiment on the home front
Once I do move, there is a bunch of experiments I am going to get started, mostly surrounding everyday things. The move itself is to a much smaller space 28m2, but it is a series of ground level apartments, much like mini houses or cottages.
The experiments will mostly be on how to minimise my footprint on the world, while still being somewhat comfortable and how to live more sustainably. The idea being that this would be a test stage, before committing to a tiny house or van life. Both with the intention of offgrid living and some degree of self sustainability.
The tiny ev, sadness
My contact at Buddy fell through and hasn't gotten back to me again, while not entirely unexpect, it could have been something.
The idea still stands though and I will move forward without the benefit of someone having done it before (let me know if you are such a someone). I believe this is the idea we need, to all be able to drastically reduce our footprint on the world, figuratively and physically.
